Queen Mary Hospital, phase 1

The Concept Plan for phase 1 redevelopment and conversion works of Senior Staff Quarters
- Phase 1 of the redevelopment of QMH involves constructing a new hospital block (Clinical Block 1) at the north end of the hospital campus that has large floor plates with convenient connections between the Accident & Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Theatres and emergency diagnostic facilities, so as to strengthen emergency services for critical patients. 

To minimise disruptions to clinical services during redevelopment, it is necessary to decant the existing services in the Clinical Pathology Building, University Pathology Building and facilities of the Housemen Quarters to the converted Senior Staff Quarters (Block T).

Link Bridge
- A new link bridge joining the existing one at the New Clinical Building, forming an all-weather walkway between Block T (the converted Senior Staff Quarters) and other buildings in the hospital campus was completed.

The air-conditioned new link bridge of about 2.7-meter wide provides a generous and comfortable passage for healthcare staff, students and visitors. The gradient is kept to a minimum to enable safe and smooth transportation of pathology specimens.
