Grantham Hospital, phase 1

On 18 May 2018, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$422.5 million for preparatory works of redevelopment of Grantham Hospital, phase 1.  The scope of phase 1 will involve the demolition of the Senior Staff Quarters, Nurse Quarters Block 1 and Block 2 of the hospital, decanting works, and construction of two new blocks.

The preparatory works of redevelopment of Grantham Hospital, phase 1 have commenced since June 2018，which included  Asbestos survey, topographical survey, tree survey, ground investigation and underground utility survey.

Since February 2019, Grantham Hospital has started the decanting arrangement of facilities in the existing Nurse Quarters Block 1 and Block 2 to prepare for the demolition of these two blocks under phase 1 redevelopment project.

On 26 June 2020, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$1,181.9 million for the demolition, site formation and foundation works of redevelopment of Grantham Hospital, phase 1.  In addition, the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association has undertaken to contribute HK$180 million towards the capital cost of the project.

Members of the Economy, Development and Planning Committee under the Southern District Council supported the proposed main works on 20 January 2022. The Cultural, Education, Healthcare, Leisure and Social Affairs Committee under the Central and Western District Council was also consulted on the same date and members had no adverse comments on the project.

Members of the Panel on Health Services of the Legislative Council supported the main works of redevelopment of Grantham Hospital, phase 1 on 1 April 2022.

On 24 June 2022, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$9,933.9 million for the main works of redevelopment of Grantham Hospital, phase 1.  In addition, the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association has undertaken to contribute HK$520 million towards the capital cost of the project.
