On 24 June 2011, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$1,719.6 million for the main works of the phase 2 redevelopment of Caritas Medical Centre project. In addition, Caritas Hong Kong has undertaken to contribute HK$50.0 million towards the capital cost of the project.

Kick-off Ceremony for the redevelopment of Yan Chai Hospital.

Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, joined the then Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, and HK Jockey Club Board member, Dr Donald Li, to host the ceremony held in September 2011.

The officiating guests visited the model of the new building and was introduced the design concepts and structure of the new building by the project architect after the ceremony.

Two link bridges connecting Wai Shun Block with the new ambulatory/rehabilitation block and Wai Oi Block were completed.

Upon completion of the redevelopment, the scattered service and facilities of Caritas Medical Centre among different hospitals blocks are rationalized and are mainly situated in Wai Shun Block (acute block) and Wai Ming Block (ambulatory/rehabilitation block).

A link bridge was constructed to facilitate commuting between the two blocks. Another link bridge connects Wai Oi Block, which accommodates the supporting service and administrative offices, with Wai Shun Block. The two link bridges were completed in May and November 2013 respectively.

North Lantau Hospital commences patient service

The hospital commences patient services in phases starting from 24 September 2013. Services provided in the initial phase include eight-hour accident & emergency (A&E) services, allied health services and community service.

Two new specialist out-patient clinics for medicine and psychiatry respectively as well as the new Community Health Centre have been put into operation since 30 September 2013.

Topping Out Ceremony for the community health and wellness centre.

The Topping Out Ceremony for the community health and wellness centre (Block C) was held on 14 January 2014. The Cluster Chief Executive of Kowloon West Cluster of Hospital Authority, Dr Nancy Tung, accompanied the then Chairman of Yan Chai Board, Dr Raymond Leung Cheong-ming, to host the ceremony.

The community health and wellness centre comprises a Health Resource Centre, Primary Care Centre and Specialist Care Centre, providing multi-rehab services, family medicine services, a specialist outpatient department, adolescent services and community nursing services.

Tin Shui Wai Student Community Oil Painting Activity.

A community oil painting activity was organized by the contractor of TSWH to enhance community engagement. Students from primary and secondary schools in Tin Shui Wai were invited to submit paintings outlining the new hospital and healthcare professionals. Their paintings were subsequently displayed on the hoardings of construction site. Award of appreciation was presented to the students to acknowledge their participation.

24-Hour Accident & Emergency (A&E) service commences in North Lantau Hospital

The hospital commenced 24-hour A&E operation on 25 September 2014 to meet the increasing demand for round-the-clock A&E service.

Inpatient service of 20 acute beds and 20 convalescent / rehabilitation beds, specialist outpatient services for surgery and orthopaedics and traumatology, as well as the Day Rehabilitation Centre also started operation in mid-September.

Service Commencement of Ambulatory Care Centre (Extension) in Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
From: Reprovisioning of Yaumatei Specialist Clinic at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The clinical services currently provided at Yaumatei Specialist Clinic (YMTSC) in Battery Street, Yau Ma Tei, will be relocated to the new specialist clinics building in QEH starting on 12 December 2016. The new building is named “Ambulatory Care Centre (Extension) / Block T” (the Extension).  Some of the facilities and services of the existing QEH Ambulatory Care Centre will also be relocated to the Extension.

Situated next to QEH Ambulatory Care Centre, the Extension is connected by two footbridges to the first floor of QEH Ambulatory Care Centre and Block H taxi stand respectively.  The Extension is built to meet the needs of future development and services demand, and also provides quality medical services to patients.

Service commencement of Tin Shui Wai Hospital

The new Tin Shui Wai Hospital (TSWH) is scheduled to commence patient service in
phases from 9 January 2017 to meet the service demand of Tin Shui Wai
residents.

The Hospital Chief Executive of TSWH, Dr Deacons Yeung said, “In the initial phase,
ambulatory service will be provided from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, including
specialist out-patient clinics for medicine and geriatrics, orthopaedics and
traumatology, and family medicine; while renal dialysis, allied health,
diagnostic radiology, pharmacy and community nursing will also be put into
operation at the same time.

As more time is required to prepare for the opening of A&E service to ensure
the provision of safe and quality care with comprehensive support to emergency
patients, the A&E Department of TSWH will commence the first phase of
service on 15 March 2017 by operating from 8am to 4pm daily.”

Dr Yeung added that after service commencement in the initial stage, the New
Territories West Cluster will assess various factors including operation,
service demand, patient safety and human resources of the new hospital in order
to decide the commencement schedule of other services.

Tin Shui Wai Hospital commences A&E services
From: Tin Shui Wai Hospital
Tin Shui Wai Hospital (TSWH) will commence daily 8-hour Accident and Emergency
(A&E) services with effect from 8am on 15 March 2017 in order to provide a
more comprehensive healthcare service for residents in Tin Shui Wai district
and areas nearby.

In the initial phase, the 8-hour A&E services of TSWH open from 8am to 4pm
daily with an estimation of 150 to 200 attendances per day. The Hospital Chief
Executive of TSWH, Dr Deacons Yeung, said TSWH A&E is the third A&E
department in the New Territories West Cluster. This new service point not only
provides convenience to Tin Shui Wai residents, but also shares the workload of
both the Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) and Pok Oi Hospital (POH). 

 “According to our statistics, among the daily
attendances at A&E departments of TMH and POH, around 250 of them are
residents of Tin Shui Wai and around half of them attended the service between
8am to 4pm. Therefore, after service commencement of TSWH A&E, it is
estimated that around 50 percent of Tin Shui Wai residents who require
emergency medical service could be covered”, said Dr Yeung.

3. Building Services Engineering Consultancy Services;
4. Structural, Civil & Geotechnical Engineering Consultancy Services; and
5. Quantity Surveying Consultancy Services

For NAH at KTDA project, invitation for tender has been issued. For PWH, phase 2 - stage 1 projects, invitation for tender will be issued soon.

On 18 May 2018, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$10,049.3 million for main works (superstructure and associated works) for phase 1 redevelopment of Kwong Wah Hospital. In addition, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals has undertaken to contribute HK$34 million towards the capital cost of the project. The first phase of a new hospital complex will be constructed to accommodate most of the core clinical services currently located in the Main Hospital Building and associated external and landscaping works will be provided.

On 18 May 2018, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$13,556.0 million for main works of phase 1 redevelopment of Queen Mary Hospital.  It is planned to commence the main works in October 2018 for completion of the whole project in 2024. The project aims at rebuilding the hospital into a modern medical centre with additional space to meet operational needs, as well as improved physical design and accessibility for more efficient clinical operations and the promotion of integrated research and education.

To vacate Clinical Pathology Building, Pathology Building (HKU) and Housemen Quarters for the demolition works and construction of a new block, the final phase of the relocation works was completed in early August 2018. The facilities and services of the aforementioned three buildings (e.g. laboratories of Department of Pathology and Department of Microbiology, teaching facilities, offices of clinical departments, call rooms, etc.) have been smoothly relocated to Block T (the converted Senior Staff Quarters) and have commenced full operation.

In June 2016, the Hospital Authority commenced the demolition and substructure works for phase 1 redevelopment of Kwong Wah Hospital which include demolition of four existing buildings, namely, South Wing of Main Hospital Building, Nurses’ Quarters, Administration Building and Chinese Medicine Clinical Research and Services Centre. The works were completed in May 2019 and the superstructure and associated works for phase 1 was commenced on 27 May 2019.

The hospital's opening ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Food and Health,
Professor Sophia Chan. Other guests attending the ceremony included the Hospital
Authority (HA) Chairman, Professor John Leong and the HA Chief Executive,
Dr Leung Pak-yin; the HKCH Hospital Governing Committee Chairman, Mr John Lee;
the Dean of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong,
Professor Gabriel Leung; the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese
University of Hong Kong, Professor Dennis Lo; Kowloon Central Cluster Chief Executive,
Dr Albert Lo, and the HKCH Hospital Chief Executive, Dr Lee Tsz-leung.
 
The operation of the HKCH has commenced in phases since December 2018.
Services currently available include oncology and haematology, nephrology,
metabolic medicine, intensive care, paediatric surgery, pathology, anaesthesia,
radiology, pharmacy and allied health services. Other clinical services will commence
gradually.

Opening Ceremony of Trinity Block of Haven of Hope Hospital

The Opening Ceremony of Trinity Block of Haven of Hope Hospital (HHH) today (15 June 2022) marked a new milestone in HHH's rehabilitation and infirmary services development. 

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam. Other guests attending the ceremony included the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority (HA), Mr Henry Fan; the Chief Executive of the HA, Dr Tony Ko; the Chairman of the Hospital Governing Committee of HHH, Professor Joseph Kwan; the Chief Executive Officer of Haven of Hope Christian Service, Dr Lam Ching-choi; the Chairman of the Sai Kung District Council, Mr Francis Chau; the Cluster Chief Executive of Kowloon East Cluster, Dr Deacons Yeung; and the Hospital Chief Executive of Tseung Kwan O Hospital and Haven of Hope Hospital, Dr Kenny Yuen.

Trinity Block will be able to provide 160 additional extended care beds and re-provisioning of 116 infirmary beds. Clinical, supporting and auxiliary facilities will also be expanded to support additional inpatient care services as well as to enhance service capacity and operational efficiency. The total number of beds in HHH will also be increased from 521 to 681 after the expansion.
