Hospital Authority arranged consultation with the Kwai Tsing District Council (KwTDC) on 24 June 2014. Members of the KwTDC supported the proposed project.

Funding approval obtained from Finance Committee of the Legislative Council for the phase 1 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital.
On 29 April 2016, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$750.8 million for the phase 1 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital.

Substantially completion of phase 1 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital
Phase 1 redevelopment of KCH commenced in June 2016 and substantially completed in July 2018.  The decanting building will be handed over to KCH in phases.

Hospital Authority arranged consultation with the Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of Kwai Tsing District Council (KwTDC) on 12 February 2019. Members of the CAC of KwTDC supported the proposed project.

Funding approval obtained from Finance Committee of the Legislative Council for the phases 2 and 3 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital.
On 22 November 2019, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$7,452.1 million for the phases 2 and 3 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital.

Commencement of Phase 2
Subsequent to the funding approval from Finance Committee of the Legislative Council, phase 2 redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital commenced in December 2019.
30 Apr 2025
Phase 2 completion
Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Kwai Chung Hospital was completed in April 2025.
