Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Headquarters

On 22 May 2015, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$893.1 million for the expansion of the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Headquarters project and the works were commenced in June 2015. In addition, the Hong Kong Red Cross has undertaken to contribute HK$20.0 million towards the capital cost of the project.

With an aim to contribute to the community and to save more lives, the project team used the theme of 2016 World Blood Donor Day “Blood connects us all - Share life, Give blood” to organise a group donation in the Mong Kok Donor Centre on 14 June 2016. More than 50 team members registered and donated blood on the day.

More than 50 project team members donated blood during the Chinese New Year group donation event, living up to the promise of contributing to the community and saving lives.

World Blood Donor Day is held on 14 June every year. Our project team organized a group donation on 14 June 2017,with around 50 project team members supported the event by donating blood on that day.

The inventories for all blood types have been depleted to an alarming level at earlier time. In response to our appeal, the Project Main Contractor immediately organized a group donation and 80 of their team members donated blood.

World Blood Donor Day has been celebrated around the world on 14 June every year. Following last year’s practice, our Project team arranged a group donation on 14 June 2018 with around 100 team members taking part in blood donation.

Construction works commenced in June 2015 and the new annex block was substantially completed in December 2018.  Refurbishment of existing building is in progress for completion in 2020.

The Sze Pang Nien Memorial Headquarters Donor Centre commenced service in January 2022.
