Funding approval obtained from Finance Committee of the Legislative Council.

On 22 May 2015, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$563.3 million for the refurbishment project of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital and the works commenced in June 2015. In addition, the Hong Kong Buddhist Association has undertaken to contribute HK$10.0 million towards the capital cost of the project.

Main content:
The refurbishment works commenced in June 2015 including:

refurbishment of Blocks A, B and D
conversion of 6/F of Blocks A and B to accommodate 130 additional beds
conversion of 1/F and 2/F of Block C for day rehabilitation, geriatric day services and pilot integrative medicine in palliative care
construction of a covered link bridge between Blocks B and C
provision of a new lift tower adjacent to Block B
installation of fire services sprinkler systems

The works substantially completed in September 2019.
