Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital (HKBH) is a community hospital providing inpatient services covering medicine, orthopaedic joint replacement, palliative care (hospice) and general convalescence for patients residing in
Wong Tai Sin and Kowloon City.  It also delivers general and specialist outpatient services.

Apart from additional capacity required for accommodating the surging demand for longer-term care and rehabilitation
service induced by the aging population in the two districts, the hospital is also in need of a comprehensive refurbishment to modernise its buildings and fire service installations. Hence, a refurbishment project is underway for improving
the facilities of the hospital so as to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and staff.

The scope of the refurbishment project comprises:

  • refurbishment of Blocks A, B and D
  • conversion of 6/F of Blocks A and B to accommodate 130 additional beds
  • conversion of 1/F and 2/F of Block C for day rehabilitation, geriatric day services and pilot integrative medicine in palliative care
  • construction of a covered link bridge between Blocks B and C
  • provision of a new lift tower adjacent to Block B
  • installation of fire services sprinkler systems

Refurbishment works commenced in June 2015 and site works substantially completed in September 2019.
