North Lantau Hospital, phase 1

The then Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Donald Tsang, officiated at the Foundation Laying Ceremony of North Lantau Hospital, phase 1.

The construction works commenced in January 2010.

The construction works of North Lantau Hospital completed in December 2012 according to schedule. It is now in the progress of installing the facilities and equipment for the service commencement.

The hospital commences patient services in phases starting from 24 September 2013. Services provided in the initial phase include eight-hour accident & emergency (A&E) services, allied health services and community service.

Two new specialist out-patient clinics for medicine and psychiatry respectively as well as the new Community Health Centre have been put into operation since 30 September 2013.

The Chairman of Hospital Authority, Professor John Leong Chi-yan, accompanied by Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, and Kowloon West Cluster Chief Executive, Dr Nancy Tung Sau-ying, paid a visit to North Lantau Hospital on 1 December 2013.

Professor Leung was deeply impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and the people-centered design that meets the expectations and requirements of frontline colleagues and patients.

The hospital commenced 24-hour A&E operation on 25 September 2014 to meet the increasing demand for round-the-clock A&E service.

Inpatient service of 20 acute beds and 20 convalescent / rehabilitation beds, specialist outpatient services for surgery and orthopaedics and traumatology, as well as the Day Rehabilitation Centre also started operation in mid-September.
