North Lantau Hospital, phase 1

New rehabilitation experience in rehabilitation garden

Rehabilitation Garden The rehabilitation garden is divided into different sensory areas in order to help improve patients’ physical, cognitive and psycho-social ability through visual, hearing, tactile and osmic stimulation. It provides a new rehabilitation experience for patients and enhances the effectiveness of rehabilitation services.

Composing a wall with different tiles is not only for visual enjoyment, but also for rehabilitation.

The "Tactile Walls", embossed with various kinds of graphics, stimulates and enhances the tactile sense of patients.

Tactile Walls The "Herb Garden" is planted with different kinds of herbs and plants that can produce different scents for osmic stimulation.

The Herb Garden Patients can knock on the "Colourful Columns" to produce different pitches of sound, stimulating both visual and hearing senses.

Nurse station with paramount view

The Nurse Station is located in the centre of the ward area and is designed in "U-shape" so that nurses can better monitor the situation in each ward cubicle.

Ward cubicle with improved facilities

Unlike the traditional design of ward cubicle in which workstations are located only at the nurse station, each ward cubicle in North Lantau Hospital has its own small workstation to facilitate medical staff to access patients’ data.

In addition, each ward cubicle is equipped with toilet and shower facilities for the convenience of elderly patients and patients with disabilities.

Large floor plate

Hospital trend: Large floor plate

Larger floor plate is the trend of new hospitals.  Related departments can be located on the same floor to facilitate transfer of patients to receive different treatment procedures in different departments, which greatly enhances the efficiency of patient service.
