Funding approval obtained from Finance Committee of the Legislative Council.
On 24 June 2011, Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the funding of HK$1,719.6 million for the main works of the phase 2 redevelopment of Caritas Medical Centre project. In addition, Caritas Hong Kong has undertaken to contribute HK$50.0 million towards the capital cost of the project.

Topping Out Ceremony

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr C Y Leung, accompanied by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, the then Hospital Authority Chairman, Mr Anthony Wu, and Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, officiated at the Topping Out Ceremony of Caritas Medical Centre Wai Ming Block (new ambulatory/rehabilitation block) on 11 April 2013.

Two link bridges connecting Wai Shun Block with the new ambulatory/rehabilitation block and Wai Oi Block were completed.
Upon completion of the redevelopment, the scattered service and facilities of Caritas Medical Centre among different hospitals blocks are rationalized and are mainly situated in Wai Shun Block (acute block) and Wai Ming Block (ambulatory/rehabilitation block).

A link bridge was constructed to facilitate commuting between the two blocks. Another link bridge connects Wai Oi Block, which accommodates the supporting service and administrative offices, with Wai Shun Block. The two link bridges were completed in May and November 2013 respectively.

Redevelopment of Caritas Medical Centre, phase 2

The new ambulatory/rehabilitation block was completed in November 2013. It accommodates various clinical services, including rehabilitation, infirmary and hospice wards, General Outpatient Clinic, Specialist Outpatient Clinic, Geriatric Day Hospital, and other allied health and supporting service.

Construction works for the rehabilitation garden was complete
The demolition of Wai On Block, Wai Tak Block and Wai Yan Block for the construction of a rehabilitation garden, external landscaping, and improvement works of access road and hospital entrances was completed in October 2015.

The Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, accompanied by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, the Hospital Authority Chairman, Professor John Leong Chi-Yan, and Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, officiated at the Opening Ceremony of the redeveloped new Wai Ming Block (New Ambulatory/Rehabilitation Block) at Caritas Medical Centre on 3 March 2016.
