Since 1973, Yan Chai Hospital (YCH) has been providing acute and extended care services to Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan districts and the neighbouring areas. After years of heavy utilization, a number of blocks in the hospital were dilapidated and facing various building-related problems. There were also physical and space constraints in meeting the increasing service demands and in delivering comprehensive and integrated healthcare services.
The redevelopment of YCH commenced in 2011. The project scope includes:
- Demolition of four hospital blocks for construction of a community health and wellness centre.
- Provision of landscaped areas with car parking facilities.
Community Health and Wellness Centre
The new community health and wellness centre (Block C) provides community-based and patient-centred services, and promotes continuity of healthcare at different stages of life through “one-stop” integrated services. It comprises three components:
- Health Resource Centre
- Primary Care Centre
- Specialist Care Centre
