New Acute Hospital at Kai Tak Development Area

The New Acute Hospital (NAH) will be one of the largest hospitals in Hong Kong with 2,400 beds, 37 operating theatres and a broad range of clinical services and facilities.

The NAH is a designated trauma centre providing 24-hour Accident and Emergency unit, staffed and equipped to handle urgent cases, emergency conditions and major incidents.
The hospital layout is designed for functional efficiency and the convenience of patients and visitors. A multi-level atrium in the Acute Block is the central “hub” of the hospital. It houses admission, centralised waiting areas, and patient and visitor amenities.

All buildings are connected by subways, multi-level bridges and landscaped decks. These also link the hospital to the local community and the waterfront promenade.
Daylight and natural surroundings benefit the healing process and ease the stress of a hospital environment; many treatment rooms and waiting areas are daylight-illuminated. Landscaping, planted terraces and rehabilitation gardens feature are provided throughout the hospital.
